New 2017 RAM 1500 at Locklear Chrysler Jeep Dodge for Birmingham, AL
The models for the RAM 1500 have some updates for 2017. The RAM 1500 Sport now has advanced features as standard including remote start and a security alarm. The 1500 Laramie Longhorn adds LED bed lighting, SmartBeam, Keyless Go, and rain sensing wipers. The 1500 Big Horn receives automatic temperature control. All the trim levels now come with a new five-micron cabin air filter. The 1500 Rebel add a long list of new features that come standard like a security alarm, remote start, rear backup camera, rear park assist, and Uconnect 8.4 media hub.
Under the 1500's Hood
The base trim comes with the base engine: a 3.6-liter gas V6 that is rated at 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. The V6 comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and now features a rotary knob instead of the traditional shift lever. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the V6 engine. It does offer two 4WD systems. They both have a two-speed transfer case with low-range gearing. The first 4WD system is a traditional part-time system with manual mode selection. The second 4WD offers an auto 4WD mode that will switch between rear- and four-wheel drive when the conditions demand it. An engine available on the Sport, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited is a 5.7-liter V8 that generated 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The engine standard on the HFE and an option for all the trims except Express, Sport, and Rebel is an EcoDiesel. This is a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6 engine that produces 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The gas V6 engine can tow up to 7,610 pounds, the diesel V6 can tow up 9,210 pounds, and the V8 engine can tow up to 10,640 pounds. The maximum payload for the gas V6 is 1,890 pounds, the V8 engine is 1,800 pounds, and the diesel V6 is 1,600 pounds
Design of RAM 1500
The 1500 can be customized to what you want it to be. There are three cab styles available: regular cab, quad cab, and crew cab. The regular cab comes with two doors and can seat three passengers. It has the option of a 6-foot-4-inch or 8-foot cargo bed. The Quad Cab comes with four doors and can seat six passengers. It exclusively comes with a 6-foot-4-inch cargo bed. The Crew Cab also comes with four doors, but the rear doors a little bigger because the rear cabin is bigger for more legroom. The cargo bed comes in 5-foot-7-inches or 6-foot-4-inches. Along with all these options, there are 10 trim levels available: Tradesman, Express, HFE, SLT, Big Horn/Lone Star, Sport, Rebel, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited. The available RAMBox system allows you to have lockable compartments over the rear fenders in the cargo bed. It can be used to store all your tools and can even be used a cooler.
What is the Front Park Assist system?
This system uses six sensors on the front bumper to send out ultrasonic waves to see if there is an object in front of the vehicle. If there is an object it will send out an audible chime to let the driver know.
